Product Description

Fluodn 250 is an antineoplastic cytotoxic medicinal product from the antimetabolite class. It contains fluorouracil — an active substance that inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis in rapidly proliferating cells. The medicine is used in oncology for the treatment of various malignant neoplasms both as part of combination chemotherapy and as monotherapy.

Mechanism of Action

After administration, fluorouracil is metabolized into active forms that:
• inhibit the enzyme thymidylate synthase;
• block thymidine synthesis — an essential component of DNA;
• disrupt RNA synthesis;
• stop division of tumor cells.

The drug is most effective against rapidly dividing cells.


Indications for Use

Used as prescribed by a physician for treatment of:
• colorectal cancer;
• breast cancer;
• gastric cancer;
• pancreatic cancer;
• esophageal cancer;
• cervical cancer;
• other malignant neoplasms as determined by a physician.


Method of Administration

Administered exclusively intravenously by qualified medical personnel.
Dosage and treatment regimen are determined individually by a physician depending on tumor type, patient condition, and concomitant therapy.

Self-administration is prohibited.


Contraindications

• hypersensitivity to fluorouracil;
• severe bone marrow suppression;
• severe hepatic or renal impairment;
• severe infections;
• pregnancy and breastfeeding (except when absolutely necessary).


Adverse Reactions

Possible side effects:
• myelosuppression (decreased leukocytes and platelets);
• nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
• stomatitis, mucosal ulcers;
• alopecia;
• weakness;
• photosensitivity;
• elevated liver enzyme levels.

Regular blood monitoring is required during treatment.


Storage Conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, in a dry place protected from light, in the original packaging.
Do not freeze.
Keep out of reach of children.


Special Precautions

Before starting therapy, assessment of liver and kidney function and complete blood count is recommended.
The medicine should be used only under the supervision of an oncologist.
