Etoposide is an antineoplastic agent of plant origin and is widely used in combined chemotherapy regimens. The medicine acts predominantly on rapidly dividing tumor cells.

Etoposide inhibits the enzyme topoisomerase II, which is essential for DNA replication. As a result:

• the cell cycle is arrested;

• DNA structure is damaged;

• malignant cells undergo destruction.

• lung cancer (especially small cell lung cancer);

• Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphomas;
